Tonight, just like the other night, they leaned against each other’s back on that bench, staring at the night sky. Miharu thought to himself that the sky looked different tonight. He did not know if anyone else would notice this. The stars seemed brighter, the sky behind them looked darker than usual, and they seemed to be blessing them to be there tonight.
“Nee, Yoite…” Miharu called Yoite with an enthusiastic voice.
“Yes.” Yoite answered. He then noticed the sad yet curious voice of Miharu as he thrown him a very sad question.
“If you were born again, what would you be?” Miharu asked hesitantly.
Yoite smiled knowingly. Deep inside his heart, a wound was already carved. He will soon disappear, he knew. But, he felt very happy and fortunate to be able to spend every last of his days with Miharu. The one he cherished most.
Miharu listened attentively as Yoite answered his question casually; “If I were born again…” Yoite said.
Miharu smiled acceptingly as he heard Yoite continue with his soft voice an answer that could make him feel happy and sad at the same time; “I would be Yoite.” And Miharu felt that warm teas dropping from his eyes when he heard him finished his sentence without any effort to hide his feelings; “And I will never leave you…”
